Why do designers get all poor-me about their career choice? Do other respected professions unflatter themselves in this way? “I do not just stand around and cook all day,” whines a chef to a straw man. “Just because you think you can track changes in Microsoft Word doesn’t mean you should,” insists an editor to a non-editor, because this editor is dickish and defensive and looking to discourage, apparently.
Look: being a designer has never been as overvalued at it is right now, at this moment in time. It does carry with it the frustrations of any job, yes, and you’ve certainly got the same right as anyone to grumble about those frustrations. But also, you should shut up a little, because you’re lucky, because people basically admire you, and because being a snot doesn’t make you better at design.

Coat Rack by Annabelle Nichols

The unique construction of this minimal coat rack appears to defy gravity with its hovering steel sheet and three free-standing poles. Focusing on our human habits, the design is centered around four common objects: keys, books, coat, and shoes. Within the compact structure, you’ll find a place for each with room to spare for other everyday accessories. Classic materials of porcelain, wood and steel as well as its minimal aesthetic make it a convenient and easy addition to any space.
